Body Shapes and Fashion | Women

If you are tall and slender, you should show off those legs. Or if you are short and have curves, you have got to show them off! Every body type has its ‘own way’ in the fashion world. Not everyone fits in the same clothes, no one can wear just anything. Some people don’t really ‘follow’ this ‘rule’. And that’s how you can look ‘weird’, because you’re maybe wearing something that doesn’t fit, something that’s too baggy or too small… Sometimes you don’t even realize it. But I’m here to tell you what I think looks best on different shapes of a human body.

You probably already know all the different body ‘shapes’. You have the pear, apple, inverted triangle, rectangle, and the hourglass (there are actually more and other names, but you’ll get what I’m talking about). And for every shape I looked for clothes that suit them. And I also made an outfit for each shape!

Before I begin, I want to say that no one is perfect. Everyone wants to look like a certain body shape they want, or already have. I find none ugly. Because, everyone is beautiful, dont forget that.

I wanted to ask if you ever put an outfit together out of your comfort zone, with some help of my posts it would be awesome if you showed me your outfits! You can always message me via Facebook (see sidebar) or e-mail (s_freya@outlook.com) or comment down here for showing off your outfits or for asking some help It would make me happy!

Pear

This means that your hips are wider than your shoulders. Think about Beyoncé and Rihanna.

Pear

Spaghetti straps look good on you but fit and flare dresses suit you really well because it shows your lovely curves by following the shape of a pear (already).

Apple

This means you have a full waist and broad shoulders with thinner legs. Think about Jennifer Hudson or Tyra Banks.

Apple

Short jackets will suit you best! With short I mean the jacket hits you at your widest part, so the jacket doesn’t follow the curve. Full skirts are really beautiful and perfect for your body shape! And wide pants as well of course! Most of all, show off your pretty legs! 😊

Inverted Triangle

This means you have a bust and shoulders that are wider than your hips. Think about Angeline Jolie…

Inverted Triangle

Wear fitted jackets and long sleeves or thick straps to show off your upper body. You should wear full skirts and pants. Why? Because it will bring attention to your legs and it will slim down your shoulders.

Rectangle

This means that your shoulders, hips, and waist are (roughly) the same size. Think about Cameron Diaz…

Rectangle

There is a simple way to make the ‘illusion you have curves’. Add a waistband to your dress or wear a skirt with ruffles or bows or embellishment details. And of course, high waisted jeans. This is how you ‘add the curves’, practically.

Hourglass

Your hips and shoulders are (roughly) the same size. And you have a smaller, more defined waist. Think about Kim Kardashian and Marilyn Monroe.

Hourglass

Wrap dresses and tops, belted dresses or body-con, they all define your waist. It follows your shape, the hourglass. Peplum tops and styles are also something for you. Show off your curvy hips and narrow waist!
